iMug AGM & Monthly Meeting—September

A High Definition TV System
Speaker: Terry Bennett, Managing Director, Streetwise Software
Terry will be talking on a range of topics to do with using the MacMini, Apple TV, Western Digital as part of a high definition TV system . No doubt, Terry may well add a few surprises taking advantage of the excellent facilities of his presentation theatre and possibly utilise other staff members as well. Terry will break around 7:30pm for the proceedings of the AGM and then resume after the break Annual General Meeting.

More outstanding world famous Landscape photography ... with a little help from Photoshop CS5
Speaker: Peter Walton, Professional Landscape & Tourism Photographer Australian Scenics, founder and owner of the Australian Scenics image library.
Regular attendees of the iMug meetings will be well aware of the outstanding talents of Peter, both as a photographer and devoted user of Photoshop applications.
Peter Walton is renowned for his extraordinary landscape photography. During his talk this evening Peter will show and tell us more about his work and how he uses his Mac and Photoshop to give his images extra pizzaz for the fiercely competitive world of stock photography.
Peter is currently exploring some of the breakthrough technologies in the new Photoshop CS5 and he'll be sharing his findings at this meeting. Join us for a delightfully informative session with this world standard photographer who uses the technology superbly. Remember: Visitors are especially welcome.
To App or not to App—a new perspective on these essential mobile items
Speaker: Danny Gorog
Who best than Danny to give an overview of all you wanted to know about apps. How to write them, get them accepted, promote them and use on your IPod, IPhone and IPad.
Danny is a freelance technologist journalist. His writing has appeared in the Herald Sun, The Age, Macworld Australia, Home Magazine, ABC Science Online. As well, Danny is also a regular contributor on radio, appearing on SEN's The Run Home and Radio Australia's Breakfast Club. Best of all, he lives in Melbourne.
We know that Danny will be well received at iMug as he proudly states: 'As you'll all know by now I'm strongly of the opinion that if you want a computer for home use (email, web, music, photos) you can't beat a Mac. If you want a PC, well, good luck.'
—The iMug Monthly Meeting is held the 4th Tuesday of the month, except December and January. $2 supper contribution. Visitors welcomed.

1. Social Media, Industry Disruption and the Collective Stream of Consciousness.
Speaker: Jodee Rich; founder Imagineering Ltd, One.Tel Ltd, and PeopleBrowsr, a data mining, analytics and brand engagement service provider. www.PeopleBrowsr.com
Jodee will be spending much, but not all, of his talk on PeopleBrowsr, which has been collecting social media conversations since November 2007 and now has over 10 billion conversations indexed and in the cloud. Furthermore, PeopleBrowsr provides social media data and analytics to Fortune 500 companies.
Jodee believes Social Media is creating a global collective consciousness
that is rapidly shifting the power base from Big Business, Religion and Government
to the Global Consumer. He is a digital anthropologist and technology entrepreneur
who, in 2007, founded Jodee has consistently identified major industry trends.
He started writing code on punch cards in 1972. In 1979 he wrote software
for the Apple II 64k microcomputer and founded Imagineering to market and
distribute microcomputer software and hardware. In 1987 he took Imagineering
public, grew the company to over 1000 employees and in 1990 it was acquired
by First Pacific. He founded One.Tel in 1995, a mobile and Long distance
network operator. Jodee states that 'He is also a Pilot, 'Mad Scientist',
Skier, Blader, Kite surfer, Husband (of banker) and Father (of 3)'.
